The 2010 Puerto Rican BSN Season

Daniel Santiago - 12 games, 13.3 ppg, 6.4 rpg, 2.1 apg, 1.1 spg, 2.3 bpg, 55% FG, 57% 3PT (4-7), 69% FT

Ex-Bucks and Suns centre Santiago is another Puerto Rican national team member, with 122 games of NBA experience between 2000 and 2005. He is a pretty terrible rebounder for his size, and he could not stop fouling at the NBA level; however, in Europe, he's a decent scorer and defender around the basket. Like Ayuso, Santiago started playing in the BSN back in 1996, although due to contractual commitments to other teams he has missed a few in between now and then. He is coming off a disjointed season with the dysfunctional Turkish team Efes Pilsen; Santiago played pretty well when he played, averaging 5.7 points and 2.5 rebounds in only 10 minutes per game in the Euroleague, but didn't play much, and only played in the team's Euroleague games. He turns 34 later this month, however, so perhaps that's wise.

Where Are They Now, 2010; Part 58

- Daniel Santiago

Puerto Rican big man Santiago spent much of the year with Efes Pilsen, but was on the fringes most of the time. He played only in Euroleague games for the team, and averaged only 10.1 minutes, 5.5 points and 2.1 rebounds in that time; with Efes's elimination from the EL last month, Santiago has not played since. He was rumoured to be close to a deal with Lottomatica Roma as an injury replacement for Andre Hutson, but now it appears Roma will sign Vladimir Stimac from Crvena Zvezda instead. Yet another one leaving Red Star. Bad times.
