Wildly Unnecessarily Lengthy 2015 NBA Draft Board, Part 4: NCAA Centres
Riley Barker
Barker is a limited but plucky centre. Tall but not giant, qutie strong but not very long, and neither fast or explosive, Barker bangs around in the post as best he can, to limited effect. Barker attacks the glass and will foul anyone who can't contest so as to not give anything away, but his defense in the paint is largely limited by his physical profile to standing with his hands up, and his defense on the perimeter does not really happen. Always willing to mix it up on the glass, Barker tries his best to be a pest on the interior, but he is easily shot over by bigger centres, and does not have much offensive talent of his own with which to counter. He is sometimes effective clattering in towards the basket, shoots the occasional righty hook (without much post poise to set it up), and takes the occasional mid-range pick-and-pop jump shot (on which he shoots on the way down), yet his offense is mostly crashing the glass, getting rid of the ball, and setting screens. Those screens are not always legal.
