2017 NBA Manifesto
Brian Roberts
PG, 6’1, 173lbs, 31 years old, 5 years of experience
Reasonably solid defender and reasonably good shooter who unfortunately looked slowed this year after a good few seasons as a backup, and who lost his spot to Weber. Not the type to probe the defence, shift it around and exploit angles, Roberts needs to be able to score the ball to be effective, but struggled in this area this season, finishing very poorly inside of 16 feet, not able to get all the way to the rim in the half court, and not able to create his own outside looks save for some pull-up twos (at which, admittedly, he was good).
Player Plan: Expiring minimum salary. Declined last year to the point of no longer being an NBA calibre back-up. While both shooters and a back-up point are needed, there will be better, more suited options on the market.
