An almost identical season to other Pat Beverley seasons, save for a spike in rebounding. Beverley filled his role as well as ever, and there is no reason to assume that will stop happening any time soon. But Bever-ley has to want that. It appears he doesn't. And that's a shame, because the perfect parallel to a point guard-minded player in a shooting guard's body who you absolutely do not want to have to guard point guards full time [Harden] is a combo guard in a point guard's body who absolutely wants those same assignments. Beverley has it good here, and it's a shame if he doesn't see that.

Player Plan: Two years and a combined $10,540,542 remaining, the last year of which is not fully guaranteed. Beverley is a key role player and defensive guard on a team that lacks for players who can keep opponents out of the paint. But only if he wants that. If he does not want to be here, he will surely command some trade value, but it would be a shame.

Houston was better when Beverley was at point guard last year than anyone else. He is a steal of a contract, and despite concerns about consistency being entirely valid, he would be a perfectly capable starter alongside James Harden. And that day might be upon us some day soon.

Patrick Beverley - Despite a two year fully guaranteed contract, given to him during some champagne induced money-frittering by a giddy front office, Beverley was cut from the Heat roster in training camp and has remained unsigned since. Chicago took a good long look at him, but eventually decided to go with John Lucas III instead. Beverley was another player linked with a move to China, specifically the Shanghai Sharks, but he ultimarely did not sign there.

Since then, Heat draft pick Patrick Beverley has been the one to sit; he hasn't played a Greek league game since January 3rd. Heat draft pick Beverley is with Olympiakos. He started the year on the bench, played a bit, then moved to the inactive list as the team is only allowed to suit up 6 non-Greeks for every Greek league game. Beverley became the inactive list guy in late November, yet fought back to win the spot from Von Wafer, and ended up playing decent minutes for a couple of weeks. But then he was returned to the bench, as Olympiakos continue to have a rotation as consistent as Spencer Hawes. On the season, Beverley is averaging 4.8 points, 3.8 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 0.9 steals in 17 minutes per game in the Greek league, along with 3.5 points, 2.1 rebounds, 0.9 assists and 1.0 steals in 13 minutes per game in the Euroleague.
