Incumbent starter Vladimir Micov struggles more and more defensively as he ages and slow, and while it is not a strength of Kuzminskas either, the two are very polished and savvy scorers both when driving to the rim and shooting from outside, Kuzminskas bringing some athleticism along with it. To provide depth at the position, Milano have replaced Abass (a much more athletic player who could never quite find his off-ball niche in the EuroLeague) with recalling Fontecchio from loan. [...]

Kuzminskas had a pretty good debut NBA season with his package of energy, defensive enthusiasm (sometimes), missed rotations, cuts, drives and occasional spots. Perhaps we can generously accredit the missed rotations to the language barrier. Either way, if he can improve on that end (and a better team defensive unit around him will surely help), Kuzminskas may play a few NBA seasons as a three-and-D special-ist with some back door work thrown in. The 32.1% three-point shooting will have to improve, but after a prior career with only shorter three-point lines, an adjustment period is to be expected.
Player Plan: One more year at $3,025,035 before entering restricted free agency. A worthy price for a role player like him, but that’s all he projects to being, and he surely has little market value.
