Up front, Sevilla lack for a true centre. Former NBA player Paul Davis plays most of the time there, and is one of the team's best players, scoring inside and out while grabbing offensive rebounds at a prolific rate. Iona graduate Tariq Kirksay - now a French citizen due to residency - starts at small forward and sometimes bumps down to power forward, capable of defending both positions like an undersized less athletic Andrei Kirilenko, bringing some occasional shooting and good passing vision (further enhancing the Kirilenko thing). Former Tennessee-Chattanooga big man Mindaugas Katelynas brings a good combination of size, athleticism, finesse and shooting, running the floor and dunking like this. And backup Bulgarian big Kaloyan Ivanov chips in with the rebounding. But none of these are, in the truest sense, big men, let alone centres. However, this is true of most Eurocup teams - as evidenced by Kosta Perovic last season, the day a true centre shows any real ability or potential at the Eurocup level is they day they are snapped up by a Euroleague team. Besides, de facto centre Juan Triguero does OK, chipping in yet more offensive rebounding help and defend the post well enough. And considering the respective level of opposition, Davis's weaknesses on the interior are less exposed.

Paul Davis
Davis has spent at least part of three years in the NBA, including starting last season with the Washington Wizards. He is a jumpshooting big man without three point range, who offensively rebounds but not defensively rebounds, and who doesn't do much defensively. Yet because he's 6'11 and able to score, he keeps making it back.
Rumour has it that Davis is going to sign with Maccabi Tel-Aviv next season. Admittedly, Maccabi Tel-Aviv are linked with absolutely everyone.

Paul Davis went to camp with the Wizards, had incredibly little chance of making the team, and then made it anyway as injury cover for Antawn Jamison. He played in two games, totalling 4 points, 3 assists and a block, and got paid roughly $90,000 for his troubles.
Another Wizards big man signing this offseason, Fabricio Oberto, is being paid $1.99 million in a season that has seen him total 34 points, 43 rebounds and 57 fouls. Those two players represent $4.1 million in salary for the Wizards this season once luxury tax calculations are included, which is about $100,000 a point give or take. If the post-Arenas incident Wizards believe that they are now able to get under the luxury tax and save about $30 million this season once all rebates are included, they will soon find that this would have been far easier to achieve had they not unnecessarily signed Fabricio Oberto. Ah well.
Davis has remained unsigned since the Wizards waived him, with only an unsuccessful tryout in China since that time. No word on whether he remains naive about sex.
