Before, during and after Kendrick Perkins was drafted, Celtics fans used to constantly go on at me about how K-Perk was superior to Eddy Curry. I would bite my thumb at this people, for these people were wrong. But they're not wrong now.
Bereft of any real ability on offense, Perkins is a good rebounder and a great post defender, with what is best described as an "ugly as all hell" jumpshot. He has not much touch around the rim, save for a decent 3 foot hook shot over either shoulder, and he a real affinity for fouling. But he's a good rebounder on both ends, except for the days that he isn't, days which are increasingly rare as he develops.
Perkins's major asset is his defense; a fine man to man defender, and a good weak side defender with improved shot blocking, Perkins has anchored the defense on a championship winning team, which is a rare yet special boast. Unathletic, perhaps slightly short for the centre position and not quick, Perkins compensates with a good work ethic, immense strength and defensive smarts, making him one of the better interior defensive players in the league. The fact that he has arms longer than Boxing Day lunch at your grandmother's house also helps.
So essentially, he's the polar opposite of the aforementioned Eddy Curry. All that they really have in common are extremely hot-and-cold fan bases, and similar heights. And race, obviously.

Note: As you can probably tell,
some of the nicknames were made up. Many are genuine, though, and they
are only made up in the instances where a real one couldn't be traced.
Many given nicknames are of common usage, but some are also sourced
from lesser known sources - these sources are not often cited, not because
I hate the people involved, but because there's too many to do so. For
argument's sake, just assume that the unfunny ones are mine.
In the event where more than one agent is listed, this is because the
player has more than one agent. Simple, really. This is rather commonplace
- a lot of times, a player will sign with a big agency, and they will
have both primary and secondary agents from within that agency to handle
their affairs. (Where that happens, the primary agent is listed first.)
Also, foreign players tend to have both American and domestic agents.
Where the details of such are known, they are listed. It's essentially
like a fun multiple choice game, except without the "fun", "multiple
choice" and "game" elements.
Additionally - don't sue. We're only having a laugh. There's no slander
here. Just very bad jokes.
