Kirk Snyder's hearing delayed, Darius Miles arrested
Middletown Journal: Kirk Snyder takes further steps to really help his own cause and become a better, well-adjusted person.
Memphis Commercial Appeal: Darius Miles arrested for possession, reputedly a dickhead.
If there was ever any doubt - and there wasn't - Memphis really did only sign Darius Miles to screw Portland. His reasonably effective play notwithstanding, it was never going to be a long term solution, and there was nothing to gain in the short term either. But, if stiffing Portland was indeed their aim, it worked. Industrious? Yes. Successful? Yes. Embarassing? Definitely yes. Let's pretend it didn't happen.
But, enough of that.

A competency hearing for former NBA player Kirk Snyder has been delayed because [he] has been uncooperative with medical experts, court officials said.
Snyder, 25, is accused of breaking in a home and assaulting a man on March 30 near his residence in the Beacon Hill Townhouses in Deerfield Twp.
A Warren County grand jury indicted him on aggravated burglary and felonious assault charges, both felonies, He was also charged with a misdemeanor assault charge for allegedly attacking another inmate at the Warren County Jail after his arrest.
Snyder’s attorney, Hal Arenstein, could not be reached for comment, but he has filed documents in court saying his client is not guilty by reason of insanity and he is not competent to stand trial.
Memphis Commercial Appeal: Darius Miles arrested for possession, reputedly a dickhead.
Grizzlies forward Darius Miles was arrested Wednesday and released on bond after being charged with possession of marijuana following a routine traffic stop.
Miles also received a ticket for driving with a suspended license according to the Associated Press, which first reported the story.
.................
Although the Griz haven't publicly stated their intentions, their plan was always to start next season without Miles.
The Griz grew weary of Miles' waning work ethic and his relationship with rookie guard O.J. Mayo.
There was widespread concern in the organization about Miles' off-the-court influence on Mayo near the end of the season.

Sorry but Portland was obviously attempting to screw the league by claiming that Miles was unable to ever play again. I mean they signed him to that ridiculous contract so why shouldn't it be on their cap??
Why are you sorry about that?
What Was Miles Doing Regarding Oj Mayo? Elaborate Please.
I don't know, ask the writer of that report.
A doctor appointed by the NBA and Players Union determined that Miles had suffered a career ending injury, not the Blazers. It's a process that is included in the CBA for good reason. Don't just make shit up, Brandon.
Brandon Wasn't "Making Shit Up." That's What Portland Did. For All Of His Managing Brilliance, Mr. Pritchard Made A Big Mistake By Trying To Cheat D-Miles Out Of His Money. Oh, And That E-Mail He Sent Out Warning Teams Not To Sign Miles, "Or Else We'll Sue!"... Ummm.. What A Dickface.
Maybe You Are Right And I Too Should Ignore The Process That Must And Did Happen In Order For The Blazers To Have Miles Removed From The Team's Payroll Versus The Salary Cap So I Too Can Sling Pejoratives!
There is no question the Blazers played ugly and lost on the issue of Miles' return to the NBA. Prior to that, however, they followed the process as outlined by the CBA in order to determine Miles had suffered a career-ending injury (an independent doctor confirmed, erroneously, that he had) and apply to have his cap hit removed.
The Blazers sent out a memo to teams saying don't sign Darius purely to screw over our cap. They did that knowing, as we all did, that that's exactly what Memphis intended to do. Perhaps they shouldn't have done it, because they were never going to have a legal footing for any action unless they had a wiretap statement from Chris Wallace saying "we're totally only doing this to screw Pritchard", but they were still correct in their thinking.
The final chapter on the salary cap status of Darius Miles hasn't necessarily been written. So far, David Stern hasn't stopped the Blazers from signing any free agents using the cap space and hasn't tried to steal any escrow money from the players or luxury taxes from the Blazers. Let's wait and see what happens.
