Trevor Mbakwe

Forward

April 3rd 2009: A woman was walking to her car while leaving a party at a Miami apartment complex. As she got there, a man rode up to her on a bicycle, and tried to force down her pants. During the ensuing struggle, the assailant broke her cheekbone and ruptured her sinuses before fleeing the scene. The woman later picked Mbakwe out of a lineup, and he was arrested on April 28th, charged with felonious assault. The case against him dragged on for over a year due to multiple delays; eventually, Mbakwe entered a pre-trial program for first time offenders, upon the completion of which his record will be expunged. The program includes 100 hours of community service, a $100 donation to a Florida facility for abuse victims, and a restraining order against the accused. The agreement does not represent an admission of guilt, and Mbakwe always claimed a case of mistaken identity.

11th January 2011: Arrested for violating the restraining order. Mbakwe sent her a Facebook message, which, despite its content (that was intended to be nice and a final goodbye), was nonetheless a violation of the no-contact order. Spent a night in jail, but not suspended by Minnesota.

20th March 2011: Handcuffed and detained - although not arrested - by police invesitgating a property damage callat 2am in the morning on an intersection. Allegedly, Mbakwe kicked the car door of some people who were heckling him at his team's poor performance. Not charged.
