September 2006: Arrested and charged with theft. Pleaded guilty to fifth degree theft and was sentenced to 20 hours community service.
 
1st January 2010: Pulled over for speeding, along with three Tennessee teammates, at about 11.30am. They were found to be riding in a rental car containing a bag of marijuana and two unloaded guns. Smith was kicked off of the Tennessee team, but the other three weren't.
