May 1999: Arrested for marijuana possession for the first time and for driving under the influence. Pleaded no contest. Had his driving license suspended for six months, fined $400, received probation and was ordered to attend a drug and alcohol awareness class. Apparently it didn't work.
 
5th November 1999: Arrested for marijuana possession for the second time after being found with a small amount of marijuana on him in a customs check. Was not punished by law or by the NBA. Issued statement saying "this will never happen again."
 
6th May 2000: It happened again. Arrested for marijuana possession for the third time after being pulled over.
 
February 2002: Suspended for 5 games for violating league substance policy. Insists it was not another failed test, but he did not contact officials when required to do so.
 
Early 2003: While playing for Panathinaikos, Buford was suspended for marijuana violations. Do you see a pattern here?
 
Late 2006: Suspended by FIBA for 3 months for failing a drugs test. Again.
