Latrell Sprewell

Guard/forward

Undated: Sprewell, a self confessed pit bull fan, found out that one of his own pet pit bulls bit off the ear of his 4 year old daughter. He did not get rid of the dog.

Undated: Shouted racist slurs and abuse at an Asian policeman who stopped him.

December 1997: Attacked coach P.J. Carlesimo, and allegedly tried to choke him. Sprewell says he grabbed him around the neck, but he didn't choke him, merely shook him. The Warriors terminated his contract, costing Sprewell about $25 million. He was suspended by the NBA for a year, later reduced to 68 games by an arbitrator. Sprewell later sued the NBA claiming that the suspension was racially motivated. He lost.

December 1999: Whilst in a civil trial concerning a road traffic accident he admitted to causing, Sprewell was accused of talking to the jury, which is not allowed. A motion for a new trial was rejected. For the crime itself, Sprewell was ordered to pay $105,000 in damages to the victims, and was sentenced to 90 days in jail, which he served whilst electronically tagged at his home.

April 2002: Fined an impressive $250,000 for not notifying the Knicks that he had broken his hand in the offseason, which caused him to miss some games. The New York Post alleged that he suffered the injury whilst trying to punch a man whose girlfriend vomited on Sprewell's boat. Spree denied this, and sued the paper for $40 million. He lost that as well.

February 2003: Arrested for driving with a suspended license. His licensed was suspended after he failed to report to a court summons for a minor citation of failing to signal. Fined and released.

March 2003: Had a case brought against him concerning child support of a 14 year old girl. Whilst there is no official documentation saying that he is the child's father, Sprewell admits that he is. After getting his first NBA contract in 1993, Sprewell has given $2,000 every month to the child's mother as child support. At the time of the suit, when Sprewell was earning many millions a year, the case called for Sprewell to pay 17% of his salary, which was about $2 million annually.

December 2006: Arrested and charged with third degree assault after allegedly hitting his girlfriend in front of their children. Charge dropped 14 months later.
